It is both an honor and a privilege to lead the United Way of Laredo as President of the Board. I am humbled by the support of the board, to elect me to serve in this capacity. I am also extremely excited to work with all of the incredible volunteers, businesses and member agencies. United Way’s role to help people in need is vital to the organizations in this community. I have been directly associated with this local nonprofit organization for more than 6 years, and indirectly over ten years through our affiliated agencies. Together, we have been working to address and respond to our communities most basic needs.
This year we invite everyone to be “Heroes Helping Heroes.” Through your support of the United Way campaign, our volunteer board members, community partners and campaign contributors will strive to attain our goal of $1 million dollars to fund 22 local nonprofit organizations and community programs.
As stewards of our community resources, United Way of Laredo is fiscally responsible in assuring that your hard earned donations are properly and responsibly used. Together, we are “Heroes Helping Heroes” providing and supporting programs that feed the hungry, shelter the needy, mentor the youth, provide a voice for the most vulnerable and oppressed in our community. Together, we are investing in programs that support literacy, healthy choices, crime reduction, youth leadership and promote education.
Your support enables us to address our community’s needs. Your generous donations help us support local programs. We are sincerely grateful to all of the CEO’s that took time from their busy schedules to visit with us during the Pacesetter campaign. Your pledge has helped us surpass our pacesetter goal of $500,000. This is an incredible start to our campaign, but the work is just beginning. Our volunteer speaker’s bureau is ready to do employee presentations. If you are interested in a presentation for your business, please contact the United Way office at 956-723-9113 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Our thanks to The Laredo Morning Times and Bill Green for their continued support in helping us keep costs down and promote the incredible work our agencies do. Their donation of this tabloid is a tremendous help to our organization.
I would also like to thank my family and friends for supporting me during my tenure as United Way of Laredo President! A special thanks to our current United Way officers, executive committee, board of directors and staff for their time, dedication, leadership, help and support.
We officially kick-off our annual campaign on September 11th, with our “Day of Caring.” I encourage everyone to “Be a Hero” and open your hearts. Make a donation that will support the United Way family of member agencies. Together, we are “Heroes Helping Heroes.”
